28mm Wide-angle 8x Optical Zoom Leica DC Lens
- The FH25 features a newly developed, high quality 28mm wide-angle Leica DC VARIO-ELMAR lens with 8x zoom in a slim, compact profile. This advanced Leica lens comprises nine elements in seven groups, including three aspherical lenses with six aspherical surfaces that deliver outstanding optical performance in a conveniently portable body.
The 28mm wide-angle makes it easy to take pictures of large groups of people, sprawling architectural structures or expansive landscapes with rich perspective and vibrant width, even at short distances from the subject.
8x Optical Zoom
- The powerful 8x optical zoom lens records natural expressions of people and animals at a distance; images are crisp and detailed, never grainy or out of proportion.
10x Intelligent Zoom / 18x Extra Optical Zoom
- Panasonic's Intelligent Resolution has been newly incorporated into the DMC-FH25, and coupled with Intelligent Zoom, the camera's zoom ratio is extended by approximately 1.3x without sacrificing image quality, even when digital zoom is engaged. This gives the 8x zoom additional power to 10x equivalent; with Extra Optical Zoom, the ratio can be extended to a maximum of 18x by activating the middle part of the large 16.1-megapixel CCD, bringing objects in the distance significantly closer.
16.1-megapixel High-resolution CCD
- The 1/2.33-inch CCD has effective 16.1-megapixel resolution so that images are clear and sharp at any size. From large A2 photographs - which are big enough to show an adult's head and chest in actual size - to normal 127 x 89mm or 178 x 127mm prints, images reproduce beautifully. Photographs can be trimmed or cropped in any way without compromising the image quality.
2.7-inch, 230,000-dot High-resolution LCD
- The DMC-FH25 has been equipped with a 2.7-inch 230,000-dot Intelligent LCD display screen with high resolution and innovative High-angle Mode. In High-angle Mode, shots are easily visible from a low angle, making it possible to frame interesting shots over the top of a crowd or from below.
Venus Engine
- Powered by a high-speed, high-performance Venus Engine, the FH25 enables impressive image recording with higher signal processing and Intelligent Resolution technology.
An advanced noise reduction system applies luminance noise reduction and chromatic noise reduction independently so that images are reproduced with minimal noise up to ISO1600 at full resolution. This delivers beautiful nighttime portraits or dimly lit indoor shots.
Sonic Speed AF
- Sonic Speed AF has been enhanced with numerous re-engineered improvements including optimized algorithms, a higher-speed actuator and parallel software processing. As a result, auto focus performance is significantly faster and more accurate than with previous versions. Additionally, the FH25 features 42% faster focusing than its predecessor, which is especially useful when trying to focus on subjects in motion.
Intelligent Resolution
- New to the DMC-FH25 is Panasonic's Intelligent Resolution image processing technology. With Intelligent Resolution, three distinct areas are identified in each photo: outlines, soft gradation and detailed texture. Signal processing is applied pixel-by-pixel for uniform sharpness, precise image management and effective optimization. Images are crisp and clear, with well-defined edges and natural reproduction.
Intelligent Resolution also powers Intelligent Zoom, which effectively extends the optical zoom by 1.3x, from 8x to 10x, without sacrificing picture quality, even with digital zoom.
iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode
- Take incredible photos effortlessly with Panasonic's popular Intelligent Auto technology. When you don't know which scene mode will deliver optimal image results, or when you want to snap a photo opportunity quickly and don't have time to make settings adjustments, just switch to iA Mode and let the FH25 do the work for you. Point, aim and shoot, and trust iA's six detection and correction functions to get busy optimizing the camera's settings.
You get stunning photos with fully automated optimization without the hassle or confusion of manual settings. You'll have the freedom to capture all of your most memorable moments with ease and create beautiful images, even if you've never used a digital camera before.
What's more, Intelligent Resolution is always activated in iA Mode. This means your results will be clearer and more detailed with a higher image quality and extended zoom range to 10x, thanks to the Intelligent Zoom system.
Easy Zoom Button
- Need a quick close-up? Just press the Easy Zoom button once and the FH25 adjusts zoom power to the 8x maximum. Pressing the button a second time extends the zoom to the camera's 18x maximum using Extra Optical Zoom. You can zoom in to any distant subject instantly, delivering gorgeous long-range shots with ease and convenience. This feature is great for capturing candid portraits.
MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer)
- Many point-and-shoot cameras produce blurry or ghosted images because they shake when the shutter button is pressed. The slightest hand motion can cause vibrations that throw the camera off balance, making your pictures look blurry; low lighting conditions can also make your pictures look fuzzy. There's nothing worse than snapping what you think is a great picture only to find that blurring has ruined the end result. The DMC-FH25 has been outfitted with MEGA Optical Image Stabilization, which compensates for the image blurring that can occur due to hand-shake or shooting in low-light conditions. Even the tiniest movement can be detected thanks to the extremely high sensitivity of the MEGA O.I.S, which picks up vibration at an impressive frequency sampling of 4000 times per second. The Venus Engine supports image stabilization to ensure the blur-stopping lens is engaged when camera vibration is detected; you get sharp, blur-free images when shooting normally or in macro, and zoom shots that can be particularly susceptible to hand-shake. You can also preserve ambient lighting in nighttime shots or dim indoor scenes, without blurring the image or ruining the mood.
AF Tracking
- The FH25 gives you greater freedom when photographing active subjects such as pets and kids, with its advanced Auto Focus Tracking system. Just focus on the subject you want to shoot and AF Tracking automatically locks onto it until you press the shutter to capture the moment. There's no need to press the shutter down halfway over and over again to readjust the focus. You can set the auto focus, sit back and wait for the perfect shooting opportunity. Imagine all the fantastic candid shots you'll be able to record with just the touch of a button; perfect for parties, weddings, vacations or just having fun with the ones you love.
Quick AF
- Another useful auto focus feature on the DMC-FH25 is Quick AF, which is activated as soon as you point your camera toward a subject. This differs from the ordinary auto focus on some cameras, which is only activated if you press the shutter halfway. Quick AF eliminates the hassle of pressing the shutter halfway repeatedly as you try to frame the right shot. Shutter delay time is drastically reduced, and you can take pictures faster so that you never miss a moment. Quick AF is great for taking photos of active scenes when at sporting events, school performances, dance recitals or when your favorite pet is in action. Pictures are never blurry or out of focus, so you can snap away with confidence.
Intelligent ISO Control
- Intelligent ISO Control, powered by the Venus Engine, detects moving subjects and the lighting conditions and automatically sets the optimal shutter speed and ISO level for the situation. When a subject is in motion, ISO Control increases shutter speed and raises the ISO level to capture images without a trace of motion blur. For subjects at rest, ISO settings are lowered so you get beautiful natural shots of still objects. There's no need to worry about complex settings either, as the entire process is completely automated - you get impressive image quality and great looking photos whether you're taking photos of the kids playing in the backyard, animals at the zoo or the flowers in your garden.
Face Detection AF/AE
- There's really no better feeling than going back through your personal photo collection and allowing the familiar faces to bring back pleasant memories. With the intuitive Face Detection function on the FH25, you'll create beautiful portraits that are sure to offer years of enjoyment. Face Detection automatically identifies faces in any frame and adjusts focus and exposure accordingly. Blurring is eliminated; focus is trained on faces, not other objects in the frame that are in front of or behind the person you want to photograph; faces are always bright and clear, even if you're shooting in low light or with a backlight; and Face Detection can pick up as many as 15 different faces at once, even if your subjects are in profile. There's built-in red-eye correction too, so expressions are natural and beautifully presented even before the image is stored on your memory card. You can capture dynamic group shots with ease or focus on that one special face in a crowded frame, never having to worry if the portrait will turn out right.
Intelligent Scene Selector
- In iA Mode, the FH25 automatically engages the Intelligent Scene Selector for accurate, perfectly optimized settings in any scene. Intelligent Scene Selector includes settings for Scenery, Portrait, Sunset, Macro, Night Scenery and Night Portrait. The possibilities are virtually endless - you can take incredible photos just about anywhere at any time of day or night with confidence, knowing that your images will be delivered in sharp focus, with excellent color reproduction and optimum exposure.
Intelligent Exposure
- To ensure the best results Intelligent Exposure automatically adjusts the exposure by detecting brightness levels in small increments. Photos with the sky in the background can often look washed out; Intelligent Exposure combats this problem by adjusting shutter speed and aperture to stop that washout and will increase brightness only in the darkened areas. Indoor shots can appear too dark if the light from the flash is insufficient; in this instance, Intelligent Exposure raises ISO sensitivity in the low-lit area only to increase brightness without compromising image quality. This intuitive feature helps make gorgeous images out of pictures that might otherwise be ruined. You can shoot clear, balanced shots even in less than perfect conditions without having to mess with complicated settings.
Unlimited Consecutive Shooting
- Some moments are just too good to pass up, and if you're tired of training your camera on a scene for extended periods in an effort to capture just the right shot, you'll love the FH25's Unlimited Consecutive Shooting function. You can snap off consecutive shots at a rapid 1.4 times per second until the memory card is full. Choose the best photo from a series of shots or create interesting photo collages of a specific event in a frame-by-frame series. This feature is very useful if you are a motor sport fan, allowing you to capture incidents that can happen very quickly. Never miss those once-in-a-lifetime moments with the FH25.
HD Movie Recording
- Go beyond still photography with the FH25's full 1280 x 720 HD Motion JPEG video recording capabilities. You get the usability of a point-and-shoot camera and the convenience of a camcorder in a single, portable package. The FH25's pixel readout method also makes it possible to record movies with increased brightness even in low-light settings.
Battery Life
